Quality Early Childhood Environment (QECE)

Preschool Grants
The Benton County Early Childhood Area has funds available to be used at centers and preschools in Benton County for preschool tuition assistance. The funds came via the scholarship component of the organization. This fund was designed to assist families who may not otherwise be able to send their child to preschool. Families interested in receiving scholarships should contact the Benton County Early Childhood Area office either by phone or e-mail. You may also contact the preschool your child will be attending for a copy of the application. Families whose income is 200% or below poverty level are encouraged to apply. Once approved for assistance payments will be made directly to the preschools each month. Eighty percent attendance is required each month in order to continue to receive assistance. A complete copy of the policies and procedures are included in the application packet. Funds will be awarded on a first come first served basis.

Quality Early Childhood Environment (QECE)
This program utilizes trained local early childhood professionals to use a nationally recognized quality rating scale. QECE staff and volunteers evaluate early care and education classrooms in licensed centers. The project empowers early childhood professionals to assess, plan, and implement improvements in their early childhood environments. For more information call the QECE Coordinator at 319/472-4543.

Healthy And Well Kids in Iowa (HAWK-I), is a program that gives our kids that chance by making sure they have health care coverage. Thousands of Iowa's children qualify for this coverage. HAWK-I provides health care coverage for children ages 0-19. Depending on your income monthly fees range from $0 -$40 per month The HAWK-I application is short and easy to fill out.
